How To Cure A Golf Swing Slice

I’m often asked if there is an easy way to cure a golf swing slice, and the answer is without doubt, yes!

The golfing slice is a very common problem that golfers from beginners right through to enthusiasts often struggle with.  The slice can be just a little more than a faded follow-through or a golf ball that is totally out of control.  However, the good news is that with a little practice your slice can be easily fixed.  So read on and discover how you can get the slice and the dice out of your game once and for all.

A golf swing slice is caused by various factors. One of the most frequent reasons for a slice is a downswing that comes over the top of the ball. Faulty alignment or an incorrect grip are reasons that can also cause the common golf slice. When this happens, of course, the ball never lands where you want it to.

Here are some tips you can try that will help you fix your golf swing slice:

Test Your Golf Grip:

This all important step is the foundation of a good swing. You must have a good grip in order to play well. You can check your grip with a simple method.  Take a blade of grass and set it in between the fleshy part of your thumbs on the underside of the right and the top of the left. Finish your grip and swing your club clear to the high side of the backswing. If the grass stayed in place then you have a secure grip. If not, then your hands are coming apart and causing the club to move at the top of the backswing, messing up the follow through.

Clubface Position After Backswing:

Check the clubface after the swing. The clubface has to be in the right position at the top of the back swing in order to correct a golf swing slice. Since the club will be out of sight behind you, you check the direction your knuckles are facing on the left hand. If your knuckles are pointed to the left, the clubface is closed to the target line which will normally cause a right hook flight. Right facing knuckles causes the clubface to be open and you end up with a sliced golf shot. You want your knuckles to be pointing straight skyward so that the clubface will be square to the target.

Correct Golf Grip

Golf grip faults are usually the reason for a golf swing slice and many times it goes unnoticed until the ball becomes totally out of control. Then you know without a doubt that corrections have to made, and fast!

Practice your grip and be sure that you are able to see around two and half knuckles on the left hand. Use a pen to draw a small dot on the golf glove on the last knuckle you can see. To ensure your grip is accurate on every shot, you simply look down at your glove after taking up your grip. If you are not able to see the dot, then you need to adjust your grip because it has become too weak. Seeing the knuckle beyond the mark shows that your grip has become too strong.

You can get eradicate that annoying golf swing slice out of your game once and for all simply by correcting the grip and follow-through you are using. Practice makes perfect as they so, and by putting into action the above tips you will quickly see improvements in your game and see much more control over the golf ball.
